Does your nurse have the right ARSE?

This week I have had a spate of practice owners and managers contacting me because of problems within their team related to productivity and behaviour. Essentially team members are causing problems because they are not doing what they should be doing

The practice owners and their managers are not getting the results they want from their team.

This results from the team players not taking the right actions at the right time.

For team members to take the right actions at the right time, they must be equipped with the correct ARSE
Attitude
Resources
Skills
Education

Before you proceed with disciplinary action ask yourself
Have you defined and communicated with your team the attitudes you expect of them and those you will not tolerate?
Have you provided the adequate resources, such as equipment and time?
Have you defined the skills that are needed to do the task in hand and does your team have them?
Do you know what education and knowledge base is required to get the results you want and do you team players have this or have access to learning this.

Your team must have the right ARSE if they are going to take the correct Action to get the Results you and they want.
